Move of historic Fleming Farmhouse anchors Seton shrine site
The 32 ton Fleming Farmhouse from 1750s Fleming Farmhouse moves half a mile to the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine grounds. The move preserves a colonial brick floor, a hidden five foot root cellar, an original stairwell, and a cistern. Workers, led by Patram, stiffen cables between tractors as the house glides inch by inch to its new foundation, with restoration to follow by James B. Davis Construction Co of Rockville.
