Washington Oct 20 AP Senator Fess of Ohio said at the White House that President Coolidge had merely tasking him publicly and repeatedly declaring he would be renominated by the Republican National Convention. Fess claimed the President was displeased by such statements and worried they might imply he was speaking for Coolidge.
Children of the Odd Fellows Home in Baltimore prepare a minstrel show at the Temple on Saratoga and Cathedral streets. Grand Lodge officers led by Grand Master Arties Charts Tiemeyer will attend along with Esther Rebekah Lodge hosts. Superintendent A T White will escort Frederick children. the event supports the home and orphans in Baltimore.
Themes F Showe and Thomas F Showe died Wednesday evening at 640 o'clock at his home on East South street extended near Hamilton avenue from paralysis after an 11 week illness. Survived by wife and children Willam Grover Harvey James and Miss Minne Showe Mrs Frank Fink Mrs Frederick Browning Mrs Charles Keith and Mrs Milo Malhorn. A Brethren church member for over 50 years he will be buried in Pleasant Hill church Monrovia cemetery after funeral Saturday. Thomas I Rice funeral director.
The will of William H. Ramsburg of Braddock Heights and Frederick has been probated. The estate, about $30,000, is split among Rebecca Lois Ramsburg and others with Mrs. Mabel Ramsburg as widow bequeathed the house and $2,500 plus the deceased’s automobile. Executors named are Mrs Nebel G. Ramsburg and C Albert Gilson.
A Washington jury trial opens over Albert B. Fall and Harry Sinclair accused of conspiring to defraud the government by shifting Teapot Dome oil reserves to Sinclair. The case tests public sentiment and jury impartiality as the court weighs the high court’s prior findings against the ordinary jurors.
In Hagerstown on October 20 AP reports a light farm wagon was swept downstream while attempting to ford the Little Antietam Creek near Keedynville Missouri. Mrs Adams Weater and Albert Smith clung to a mood gate across the stream as their horse was drowned. The wagon floated past the gate and the occupants managed to reach the rear.
Walsenburg Colorado October 20 AP strike pickets including three women halted operations at five coal mines in the area in defiance of state authorities. County officers arrested three alleged pickets while strike representatives remained unmolested as Sheriff Harry Capps said picketing was illegal and would not be permitted.
Robberies and court action are outlined for William J. Jester of Bamore, formerly of Doubs, who confessed to robbing Marion H. Michael of Reisterstown. He received seven years and nine months in the Maryland penitentiary after Restiorie court proceedings. Mr Michael is related to E D Michael of the city.
Western and central Pennsylvania endured a severe storm with mooded homes, washed bridges, and suspended rail service. The Susquehanna and Schuylkill rivers rose, threatening flood in Manarausk, Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, and nearby towns as two deaths were reported near Haletead and Susquehanna county.
A family reunion was held at the home of Mr and Mrs Frans W Bach in Lewiston on October 18. A cold supper was served later in the evening and refreshments followed. The dining room was attractively decorated by Mrs William Fort of Philadelphia with a pink and tan color scheme. The Maryland agricultural fair notes judging of 100 fruit jars from the Four Girl water canning exhibit with ribbons awarded. Winners include Mary Coblentz Middletown Club and Nellie Hayes Wolfsville Club among many others across Adamsstown, New Market, and Pt. of Rocks clubs.

Rev C TL Stipe of Brevard Methodist Church in North Carolina has accepted the promotion to editor of the General Sunday School Board of the M E Church South. He is nephew of Mrs John J Hengrmound and descendant of the late R W Simpeon of Libertytown Derieg. Stipe studied at Weaver College Emory University Boston University and Harvard with degrees from Emory and Heary and from ST B University. He traveled in Europe and served during World War I with Coast Defense units in Mobile.
