Rockville Fair Grounds Stable Fire Suspect Arrested
Shortly after midnight at Rockville a stable on the fair grounds caught fire. Firemen extinguished the blaze with minor damage covered by insurance. Fermend A. Norris, 30, grandson of the fair grounds superintendent, was questioned and later admitted starting the fire. He is jailed awaiting the November grand jury. Norris claimed he entered the stable, set tinder to some skiing, and fled to sound the alarm before attempting to extinguish the flames. He denied broader involvement and was the first to discover the blaze.
