Legion Demands Sawyer Be Fired At National Convention
New Orleans Oct 20 The American Legion demanded the removal of Brigadier General Charles B Sawyer head of the hospitalization board and Harding's physician by a vote 601 to 375. The resolution charged unfitness based on a report from Rice Means and criticized Sawyer for blocking the hospitalisation drive amid claims of unspent Minnesota funds and delays. Pershing's appearance generated a crowd surge and a tribute as he urged civic duty and lawful government. A separate note records a pennies burglary at First National Bank of South Glens Falls netting 85 in pennies.
