Railroads and unions agree to presidential study of work rules
Washington AP The nation’s railroads and trainmen agreed to submit featherbedding disputes to a presidential commission. Secretary Mitchell said the commission’s recommendations will not be binding, but could lead to a fact finding board under the Railway Labor Act. The 15 member panel will include five railroad, five union, and five public appointees. Recommendations due by December 1961, with possible three month extension.
