About 1,500 people gathered at the Maryland fair grounds for a Republican barbecue and rally where Governor McKeldin accused his Democratic opponent Harry Byrd of ignorance on state affairs. Attorney General Rollins and Rep. Hyde spoke on issues, contrasting the opposition with a call for good clean government. A pageant by the Republican Women’s Club, a color guard from the Maryland State School for the Deaf, and a barbecue preceded the event.
