City Authorizes Street Extensions and Utilities Work
The city engineering department is authorized to proceed with grades and engineering for two street extensions. One links Madison Street through Leatherman orchard toward South Market Street, and the other connects West South Street at Jefferson to West Patrick Street near West College Terrace. Plans include one way traffic on Bentz to Madison via Center, and East Patrick traffic into West South Street. The Board of Aldermen OK’d sewer and water pipe orders, conduit installs for East Patrick Street, property acquisitions for East South Street widening, and potential improvements for Motter Avenue. Street lights requests were referred to the Light committee, and a loading zone for West Patrick Street was ordered. The Frederick Amvers post may use the City Opera House for one night, and curb and gutter work on Groveland Avenue was approved along with highway edge repairs on West Seventh Street.
