Food recipients run their own canning in Emmitsburg
In New Windsor a small group of low income residents including Phyllis Stouter attend a weekly canning program at the Service Center. Organized by the Maryland Food Committee and Seton Center, the effort turns donated produce into ready to store food while teaching skills and fostering self reliance. The eight rookies created 108 quarts beef and 144 quarts tomato sauce, with plans to expand and possibly add a Saturday shift.
