Westinghouse Electric Corp will cut about 1,400 Maryland jobs by year end due to defense spending cuts and recession. The Electronic Systems Group, based in Linthicum, employs about 17,200 nationwide with roughly 12,000 in Maryland across Linthicum Hunt Valley Annapolis Sykesville and Columbia. Notifications to affected workers start by Oct 30 with remaining staff by Nov 16.
