History Quilt Reveals 1300s Home Life in Master Bedroom
A mid 1300s quilt hangs in the master bedroom of the house once owned by Mr Willard, a blacksmith. Wrought iron details the fireplace echoing a bygone era, with Dr Beall noting a women’s sewing room likely existed. Scratches in a window pane form CM linked to Mary Willard and Christian Weaver. Nearby garments from the 1800s and a child’s dress illustrate ongoing family memory while estate records show Willard’s 1849 death and slave care provisions. The house, bearing a Frederick County landmark plaque, may join the National Register of Historic Places, connecting Dr Beall to his Civil War ancestor Benjamin Franklin Beall.
