A tractor-trailer lost a hub near the College avenue intersection on Patrick Street, tearing a wheel into the Michael Liquor Store causing frame and glass damage about 100 dollars. The truck, from Bristol Tennessee, was driven by James Strother. No injuries reported. vehicle remained blocking traffic until morning. An additional incident involved a collision between a car and a trolley with minor damage near Fifth and College.

Frederick County spent $7 641 03 on the primary election. Revision day was held in 60 precincts as ballots for the general election were prepared three weeks ahead. The county budget sets aside $33 000 for registration and election work including the card index registration system. Ballots numbered about 31 700, and more may be needed with new registrations. Voter rolls will arrive after revision day. 1 500 to 2 000 new registrations are expected. Transfers and deletions are being processed. few absentee requests are in. New Clinic To Aid School Children Here
A clinic for speech impediments will open at 6 30 this evening at the old Church Street school with weekly sessions Tuesday and Thursday 9 am to 4 pm. It is a joint project of the Board of Education and the Health Department funded by local civic groups. About 600 has been donated with 400 more expected to cover the year. The venture involves educators, nurses, a clinic psychologist, and a university speech consultant. Referrals will come from teachers and nurses, with aim to help up to 90 percent of affected students when treated young.

Plane Crash Kills 28 of 29 Aboard in London Suburb
A British European Airways Dakota crashed in Mill Hill London after takeoff for Glasgow. Twenty four passengers and five crew were aboard. 28 died with one survivor. Baltimore on October 17 The Forty Year Testimonial Banquet Inc cancelled the mammoth dinner planned to honor Dr. H C Byrd for 40 years at the University of Maryland. Scheduled Dec 9 at First Regiment Armory, it would have drawn about 5000 at $10 a head with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and top stars.
