Neighbors Oppose Day Care Center in Rosemont Area

The Frederick City Zoning Board granted a continuance to opponents of a proposed Day Care Center at 1110 Rosemont Ave. The plan would require four conditional use changes in residential zoning. Over 30 residents protested, contending the request would alter the neighborhood character. The hearing was adjourned to Tuesday Oct 29 at 2 p.m. Attorney Herbert Rollins urged the delay due to confusion over what Ganley seeks and witnesses needed. Ganley’s attorney said the advertisement and sign met legal requirements, though the on-site notice sign was torn down briefly. The board noted the sign issue and ordered future periodic checks on postings. Ganley said the center would be an all-day kindergarten for ages three to five with three instructors, activities mostly indoors, and a fenced play area. Opponents argue the change would degrade the residential character of the Rosemont area.
