Frederick city accidents for the first nine months of this year have been 191 compared to 313 for the same period last year. There has been one fatality and 54 injuries this year versus two deaths and 68 hurt in 1952. The September figures show 18 accidents compared with 29 in September 1952.

About 150 Republicans and supporters of President Eisenhower gathered at Peter Pan Inn on Wednesday night for a party in honor of the President's 63rd birthday. Congressman DeWitt S. Hyde cautioned that Republicans must work harder in the 1954 elections and the 1956 race, noting the lack of an emotional appeal to "throw the rascals out." The event was social, including a "Bake a cake for Ike" contest with cakes auctioned to raise 89 dollars for the party coffers. A 1938 Plymouth sedan owned by Clarence J. Steele of 810 Hamilton Boulevard Hagerstown was destroyed by fire on Route 26 two miles east of Unionville around 6 30 o clock Wednesday night. State Police Trooper James W. Hardy Jr noted the blaze likely stemmed from a short circuit in the wiring and Union Bridge firefighters arrived too late to save the car.
