Saar Pact Backed by France and Germany
A Luxembourg meeting between Premier Faure and Chancellor Adenauer affirmed European status for the Saar and unity in policies for Europe’s peace and prosperity. The statement hinted at details to be worked out after approval and suggested the plebiscite on October 23 may be influenced by the agreement, though some expect only a slim win or possible rejection. Deeds recorded show multiple property sales across Lewistown, New Market, Frederick, Walkersville, and Redwood street, with values ranging from about 7,500 to 13,000 dollars. Traffic deaths reached 19,840 in seven months this year.
