Drowning of a Young Man in Baltimore Harbor
William W. McCullough, 50, son of Capt. John McCullough of the government tug Robert Leslie, was found drowned off Belt's wharf in Baltimore harbor. He had left home Sunday night and was not seen until his body was recovered yesterday afternoon. Coroner Morfit deemed the drowning accidental and no inquest was held. He was unmarried and a ship carpenter by trade, formerly a crewman on the Leslie with his father. The remains were claimed by relatives.

Early yesterday morning Rev Campbell Fair at the Protestant Episcopal Church of the Ascension Lafayette Square found a visibly ill girl on the steps. Dr William Nickerson assisted as a fine boy child was born before removal from the church steps. Two passing colored women provided wraps, and Policeman Scott arranged a wagon to take mother and child home. The mother’s mother was startled to learn she would become a grandfather. The event drew little notice in the quiet square.
