News-Post adopts recycled newsprint system
The Frederick News-Post will display a recycling logo on page A-1 to mark daily use of recycled paper. General manager George E. Randall says some virgin fiber stock will still be used and readers cannot tell the quality difference. Since 1990 the paper has tested recycled print and may not go fully recycled yet. Two manufacturers, one in Georgia and one in Canada, supply the material chosen from four suppliers over four years. The switch follows a 1989 state law requiring newspapers to consider recycled content.
