Keys Reach Lease Settlement With City Over Stadium Terms
The Keys and city finalize a settlement and lease addendum addressing stadium maintenance, fees, and revenues. The deal blocks the city from seeking $91,000 in architect fees, orders reimbursement of $11,440 for the public address system, waives $75 lighting fees, and gives the team exclusive ad signage revenues. It also mandates a detailed maintenance schedule with semiannual inspections and requires the team to secure or fund its own stadium insurance. The Keys project ongoing talks with Mayor and aldermen amid long standing dissatisfaction with city maintenance. The Keys began leasing in 1988 under Mayor Ronald Young. past amendments raised rent to $16,000 then $21,635 annually with no increases.
