The Baltimore Livestock Show last week drew solid fat cattle hogs and lamb classes despite wartime conditions. 4-H judging was keen with Carl Eck, 18, winning Grand Champion Steer in both 4-H and Open divisions. Other noted exhibitors include Harry Wight and C R Hollers, with premiums shared by Charles Lutz and others, while local farmers work long hours to keep up with breeding and feeding efforts.

Wars Bring Postwar Prosperity for Farmers Says Davidson
Clinton Davidson of Fiduci Counsel Jersey City argues that only two great wars have created lasting prosperity for American farmers and war workers alike. He cites an $18 billion three-year investment in war plants and equipment, yielding 18 to 20 million workers and a looming need for reconversion reserves to sustain after-victory production and employment. He urges Congress to create tool buying reserves from wartime earnings to aid peace production and to return unused reserves to the U S Treasury within five years.
