Police probe death of man in MSP custody
A Jefferson man died Saturday morning while in Maryland State Police custody triggering two independent investigations by the state police Special Investigative Support Unit and Internal Affairs. Kevin B Padgette, 33, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a crash on I-70 near New Market. He vomited and collapsed before a test could be given, was treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital, and died two hours later from a ruptured aorta, with autopsy citing trauma from the crash.

Plane crashes into pickup on farm road near Burkittsville
Two men escaped serious injury after a low-flying 1971 Grumman biplane struck a pickup on a rural lane as the pilot attempted takeoff while seeding winter wheat. The truck and plane were destroyed.
