Poles Still Seek Freedom Across Tight Poland
A Senate report by the Library of Congress staff says ten years of Communist rule failed to crush Polish desire for independence. It notes persistent anti communist sentiment in society, peasant resistance to collectivization, worker protests, and strong Catholic loyalty. The report accompanies Pulaski Day observances in Arlington and at a Pulaski monument. It warns the Polish soldier remains ready to die for his country rather than for communism.
