Man injured in crash near St Luke's Lutheran Church

A 24 year old man, Lawrence Miller of 2005 Wandever Street Brookeville, is in serious condition at Sub urban Hospital after his 1984 Honda Accord left Muncaster Road Friday morning. Police say speed caused the crash at about 9 30 a.m. north of Muncaster Mill Road in front of St Luke's Lutheran Church. The car overturned onto the driver's side, struck a pole, and Miller was pinned for 30 minutes before rescue crews freed him.

Maryland Wins $75 Million Medicaid Funding Settlement

Maryland will receive $75 million from the federal government to settle a dispute over Medicaid provider fees. Governor Schaefer credited Rep. Helen Bentley and President Bush for securing the funds, noting the amount falls short of the $92 million sought but above the $50 million budget assumption. The gimmick tied fees and a doctors tax, once legal, is now prohibited. Bentley said White House intervention broke the money loose and hoped the release would aid the Bush Quayle campaign in Maryland.
