Five Thousand Pledged As Chest Drive Opens Here
The Frederick Community Chest drive began with a kickoff at the Francis Scott Key Hotel. Permanent secretary Mrs. Ellis C Wachter announced over $3,000 already pledged and the Special Gifts Committee reported $4,892.50 in contributions and pledges. Charles A. Price urged installment pledges and detailed how funds support the seven agencies and related services, while Fort Detrick’s United Appeal drive was noted as pending. A separate Fort Detrick report is due after October 22.
