A Friday night blaze at the York Fair Grounds burned about 1500 dollars of stabilis and caused greater losses than expected. The Myrtle Peek Combination, Agricultural Society, and individuals suffered totals around 13000 dollars with roughly 2400 dollars insured. Fire was spotted by W Bahn and Milton Gahan at stall 71 as they tried to free Myrtle Peel horses. Authorities and ex policemen arrived to force open stalls. Two valuable Myrtle Peek horses New York and Commander were killed, another horse perished after being chased back into flames. Much of Myrtle Peek’s wardrobe and gear were destroyed.
