In Reading Pennsylvania on October 7 a temporary partition inside St Peters Catholic church collapsed during alterations. A dozen people were injured as timber and bricks fell inward. Serious injuries included a fractured thigh and chest injuries. The altar and pews were damaged.
George F. Stockwell, a Beloit College preparatory student, was enticed from President Eaton’s house in Beloit on Oct. 7. He was overpowered, stripped, and forced to walk in front of about 20 students while switches were used. He returned home determined to seek revenge.
