Plankinton South Dakota October 7 seven students and an instructor died when the girls dormitory at the State Industrial School burned at midnight. The wooden three story annex was destroyed in under 20 minutes with 25 others escaping in night garments. Loss to the building is $25,000.
In Ontario disaster, two women and two children perished as smoke trapped them between flames. The victims include Mrs Levielle and Miss Stiles and her sister, plus Levielle’s two children. Several nearby villages were reduced or obliterated leaving dozens homeless.
