Maryland congressmen split on budget plan vote
Five of Maryland's eight U S representatives supported the defeated congressional budget deficit reduction package. Supporters included Rep Beverly D Dy Dh Steny Hoyer and Benjamin Cardin while Kweisi Mfume Roy Dyson and Helen Rentlav voted no. Elderly voters opposed taxes on gasoline cigarettes and liquor, and many constituents urged a no vote.
