Vigilant backs fire prevention meeting in Emmitsburg

Trans-Tech faces close bid to dismiss suit on ground water

Frederick County Circuit Court nearly moved to dismiss one of two multi million dollar contamination suits against Trans-Tech over possible well water pollution near the Adamstown plant. Plaintiffs Mullins Defehaugh and Adams allege headaches diarrhea and skin and eye irritation from TCA and other toxins. Trans-Tech denies linkage and argues exposure levels were below EPA danger levels. Judge Smith allowed 60 days for more information and ordered some discovery responses. A separate Kanode suit names additional residents along Adamstown Road and notes Alpha Industries settlement of 900000 over discharge violations at the Adamstown facility.
