City plans widening and cleaning of Patrick Street area
City engineers propose widening and cleaning a 8100 foot stretch from Patrick to Bentz streets and from Bentz to College avenues. The project includes removal of about 425 cubic yards of earth, use of steam to clean the creek, and curb work to be completed before the fair.

Washington Man Hurt in Accident Near Monocacy Bridge
A Washington man received minor injuries when his car overturned on the bridge over the Monocacy River at Fredrick Junction Friday evening about 5 30. He was taken to Frederick City Hospital by a passing motorist. a passenger bus was parked near the bridge and no collision occurred. The driver had attended a central in Waynesboro and was returning home.

Favor Widening Washington Road
