Martin T. Benner of Thurmont was found guilty on two forgery counts and sentenced to two years in the Maryland House of Correction on each count, to run concurrently. He forged the signatures of his mother in law Emma Ejler Hansonritle and his wife Sylvania Benner on notes, with $75 involved. Benner was defended by Sherman P Bowers. Several other hearings followed including the Routzahn case for larceny and pending cases against Samuel Adler for larceny and false pretense.
