Eight year old Miss Gracie Lowin of Bilangs Montana has astonished Chicago audiences with exceptional skill on violin cornet piano and a wide range of percussion. She studies in Chicago though home remains Bilhiogs, Montana and performs in orchestral settings with ease and flair.
Tony Marendino, the Brooklin boy kidnapped two weeks earlier, was found after a streetcar inspector brought him to East 87th Street police station. He had been held captive while the kidnapper demanded a $5000 ransom from his parents.

New York October 6 reports reveal more than 2.6 million dollars in commissions paid by Mutual Life Insurance to Richard A. McCurdy's family. District Attorney Jerome says the insurance scandals will be presented to an extraordinary grand jury. Evidence shows Robert H. McCurdy received 1,163,825 on foreign business and 541,852 on domestic, with Louis A. McCurdy also earning substantial sums.
Mrs. Frederick Scheff, president of the National Congress of Mothers, states that former United States senator Frank J. Cannon has aroused the enmity of Mormons. Born in Utah to George Q. Cannon, Cannon, a 46 year old editor, grew up in the Mormon faith amid threats to his life.
Share of the expenses of the firm’s profits had been deducted. This made a total of $1,765,681 that Mr. McCurdy received in commissions. In 1893, when Mr. McCurdy retired from the firm of C. H. Raymond & Co., he was succeeded by Louis A. Thebaud, a son-in-law of President Richard A. McCurdy, of the Mutual Life Insurance company. He was practically under the same contract as Robert McCurdy, and from 1893 to 1904 he received in commissions on first premiums and renewals the sum of $620,212. All these amounts were in addition to salaries paid Mr. McCurdy and Mr. Thebaud.
In Hale village Mateer near Vandergrift Pennsylvania on October 6 a 17 year old, Lloyd Remalay, was shot by his uncle Murray Kanappenberger while the family hunted for burglars. The boy’s gun discharged in his fall, wounding his aunt Lottie Kanappenberger in the thigh.
Chicago October packers to plead not guilty Monday before Judge Humphrey to conspiracy to monopolize the meat industry and restrained trade counts. Demurrers argue ambiguity vagueness and double charges. Attornies say indicted men will face trial on conspiracy to monopolize and restraint of trade claims. Also reports of British squadron arrival at Kobe and Royal Arcanum inquiry in New York.
George B. McClellan was renominated by the Democratic city convention at Tammany Hall for a four year term as mayor of New York City. The ticket includes Herman A. Metz for comptroller and Patrick F. McGowan for president of the board of aldermen with McClellan the sole incumbent renominated.
A bold Maiden Lane jewel theft failed when a clerk chased Louis Brown, a Negro, as he grabbed a tray worth about 3200 in gems. Brown stabbed clerk Oscar Winfort, fled, and was pursued by detectives and the clerk. Winfort was not seriously hurt. The incident sparked a large pursuit through the streets.
Joseph Ramsey Jr was removed from the presidency of the Wabash Railroad at a special board meeting in New York. Delano was elected his successor. Ramsey claimed the meeting illegal due to improper notice, while eight directors attended. Injunctions had been filed, and lawyers on the board remained cautious as the dispute with Gould continued.
