Soldier slips under train after activity near Perry
Witnesses describe an incident early today as a soldier exited near Perry. He sought directions to Baltimore and was told the train he had just left was bound there. The driver reported the soldier slipped under a car while trying to catch the train.

Soldier loses leg while trying to catch train at Bainbridge
Pvt. Richard R. Miscione of the Bronx leaped from a wrong station and lost his right leg below the knee while attempting to reboard the train at Bainbridge Naval Training Center. Conductors Call Strike Against Pullman Co
CHICAGO Oct. 4 The order of Railway Conductors has detailed a strike against Pullman Co effective Oct. 19. J A Paddock senior vice president said the union sent notices to locals to set up picket lines and to request service employees to respect them. The strike would affect 1600 conductors seeking 5 cent an hour raise and a third week of vacation. Pullman manager Boeckelman called it a potential violation of the Railway Labor Act as the dispute is before the National Mediation Board. Paddock said the board has been notified.
