Crowds on the Frederick Fair grounds surpassed yesterday as perfect weather drew Farmers Day attendees. Thousands roamed midways admiring exhibits while rides and concessions drew strong patronage. Officials predicted continuing crowds with no rain in sight and warmer weather forecast for tomorrow and Saturday. Governor Lane attended, and 1,500 grandstand patrons enjoyed harness and running races plus stage acts as livestock judging continued.

Local Steam Fitter Gouker Found Dead at Home
Ernest William Gouker 38, a Frederick steam fitter, was found dead in his bed at 417 East Patrick Street. A heart attack was listed as the cause. the county medical examiner and local officials investigated. Gouker, born October 28, 1902, leaves a mother, siblings, and a sister in Brunswick and Baltimore. Funeral services are set for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at 54 East Patrick Street with interment in St. John's cemetery.

A large flaming meteor was visible from Nashville Tennessee to Crawfordsville Indiana last evening around 5 20 p m. Witnesses described a huge blazing object with a bright tail, exploding in the air and appearing to fall near the Tennessee river. J H Richards of Evansville said it looked as big as an automobile and was the largest meteor he had seen.

One Killed Four Hurt In Head On Collision
A head on crash on U S 50 at the west edge of Grasonville last night killed Marion Ray Coleman 20 of Chester and injured four others including his wife 18 his mother 47 and his father 30. Mrs Coleman was in critical condition with possible skull fracture. The elder Coleman had severe lacerations. The son was survived by his wife and father.

Navy reports Magpie sunk. 21 missing in Korean waters
