During railroad construction at Kil Abuck near Olean New York workmen using a steam shovel at forty feet depth uncovered a giant tusk about six feet two inches long with a six inch diameter at one end tapering to a point. The skeleton remained largely unrevealed beyond the tusk.

Tragic Car Plunge Kills Woman and Daughter in Pa

In Mahanoy City on October 5 a car plunged 25 feet down a 60 foot embankment. Mrs Peter Young 34 and her daughter Helen 8 were instantly killed. Husband Peter Young and three others injured, transported to state hospital with grave injuries. The car’s emergency brake failed and the driver attempted power, causing the 3600 pound vehicle to roll over the embankment.
