Keokuk Iowa October 5 reports say President Roosevelt offered to appoint Governor Cummins as attorney general replacing Bonaparte who plans to retire. The move aims to ease opposition to Senator Allison reelection from Iowa and shift cabinet balance.
Henry Watterson greets William Jennings Bryan in Louisville and offers guidance for his speeches next Monday and Tuesday in support of the Democratic state ticket. He urges Bryan to tailor remarks to Kentucky voters and stresses the local political context.
