Successful Fair Nears End After Busy Weekend
Crowds at the Fredenck Fair matched or exceeded last year as grandstand and midway attractions drew strong attendance for a second night. Officials said overall receipts may not reach year ago, but attendance should rival 1946 levels as exhibitors vacate the grounds. About 250 onlookers filled the grandstand Friday afternoon for the cavalcade and races. Race horses were shipped out that night, with Cetlin and Wilson shows being dismantled for Richmond’s Atlantic Exposition next week.

Fair Week Memories Hold Fragments Of Past Town Fun
Retrospective on Frederick Fair Week recalls a bygone era with crowds on Market and Patrick streets, dances at Armory and Cotillion Ball, and lively night-time entertainments once hosted by the Myrkle Harder Company, contrasted with today's quieter celebrations and changing venues. The piece notes old-time vendors, bands, and social gatherings fading as modern practices replace them. It also touches on a 1947 shift toward show world styles and mentions NLRB bargaining actions and a mayoral election conduct dispute.
