Maryland sportsmen fight planned park land grab
Maryland sportsmen with the State Game and Inland Fish Commission oppose the National Park Service plan to create a national park along the Chesapeake and Ohio canal from Hancock to Cumberland. They seek to preserve 10,000 acres of prime hunting ground for deer turkey and duck, potentially leased to the state or kept under park protection while preserving hunting access.
