City to sell water to Waterside residents
The City of Frederick agreed to sell water to Waterside subdivision at the same rate as city customers while charging outside customers double. An 11?year?long plan covers a county meter at the city boundary, county funding for setup, ongoing maintenance, and a counted water assessment per structure served. The county will handle design, construction, and regulatory needs and cannot use Waterside water for other areas. The measure was approved by the mayor and aldermen during a public meeting.

Frederick County enrollment rises by 716 this year
Frederick County schools report a Sept. 30 enrollment of 45,458, up 716 from last year and driven by rapid growth. Twenty two schools exceed state capacity, up one from last year, with crowded elementary schools down and secondary schools up. The county plans to reduce overcrowded schools to 12 within nine years as planners expect population to reach 221,000 by 2020.
