Way says he was target of Perot officials' probe

Lawrence Way, who launched the Draft Perot effort in Frederick County, says he was among volunteers nationwide investigated by national campaign officials for dissent or trouble making. He claims a conspiracy led to his dismissal on April 30 and that he was replaced by Jeannette Williams and Virginia Burner. He has filed a $10 million suit against Perot, alleging false rumors and factional infighting within the Perot campaign.

County maps ways to meet Health Dept funding cuts

Frederick County Health Department officials met with county commissioners to outline steps to meet a $421,000 state funding reduction. Layoffs of 32 employees were set to begin in 30 days, with eight sanitarians, 11 nurses, three health aides, two social service workers and clerical staff among those to go.
