Frederick Naval Officer Dies After Night of Illness
Commander Staley Helfenstein Gambrill U S N retired and a lifelong Frederick resident died at Frederick Memorial Hospital about 2 40 this morning at age 52 after indigestion symptoms. Born August 16 1895 in Frederick he grew up in Colorado Springs and attended Episcopal High School Alexandria VA and naval academy 1914 1917. He served in WWI and held multiple sea and staff posts before retiring in 1939 and later worked for G L Baking Company. He leaves his wife Wanetta and one son.
