Rome October 2 AP Italy’s Fascist leadership called a nationwide mobilization as 10,000,000 men and women abandoned work to gather at pre arranged sites across 7,929 towns to hear Mussolini. Achille Stella secretary general announced the order over Rome radio with two hours to reach bases and hear Il Duce.
World wheat prices surged to season highs as reports spread of hostilities in Ethiopia. December wheat rose to 1.06 a bushel at noon, a gain of over three cents, while Winnipeg May wheat hit 1.00, up three cents, with October wheat climbing as well. Local prices jumped about 0.97 cents per bushel.
