In Bellville at a seduction case Miss Tha Wibley adopted daughter of J K Mullen had a warrant issued for Geo Rentwiler. Constable Obst pursued him to the Southeastern depot where Rentwiler attempted to escape by boat. A warning shot halted him and bail was set at 1200 dollars. His father stood surety. The pair later obtained a marriage license and wed at noon at Mr Mullen’s residence. Wibley is 22, Rentwiler is the son of a prominent citizen.
A Russian soldier found a tearful five year old girl among ruins after a 1877Turkish town raid. Officers funded her care with 500 roubles and she grew to a 13 year old beauty in St Petersburg. It is hoped she will marry one of the officers who supported her. A telegram from a festive event arrived saying I con my dear uncles heartily.
