Ford's Theatre to stage American Revolution trilogy in 1976
Ford's Theatre in Washington plans a three part bicentennial series by Paul Sills using Story Theatre style. Part I covers 1765 to 1775 with Samuel Adams John Hancock and Paul Revere as characters and aims to spark interest in colonial history. The production emphasizes imagining history over lavish sets and includes actors Severn Darden Gerrit Graham Richard Stephen Keep and Anthony Holland. Many comments note the absence of women in Part I and discuss the trade off between pageantry and entertainment.
