Choral Society Rehearsals For Thanksgiving Cantata Start

The Choral Society under Harold R. Yarrell began rehearsals this week for Maunder's Thanksgiving cantata The Song of Thanksgiving to be performed during Thanksgiv ing week. New members join this fall, and the group invites men to sing as tuners and basses are scarce. Soloists Leather man Cook and Miss Ahalt sang after the rehearsal, with impromptu sections. Rehearsals are Mondays at 7:30 pm in All Saints Church Parish House, 22 North Court Street.

Neither Laws Nor Free Opinion In Germany

Hjalmar Schacht freed of war crime charges by the International Military Tribunal said there appeared to be neither laws nor free opinion in occupied Germany today. He spoke with acquitted leaders Wang Fritsche and Franz Von Papen at a press conference and was asked if he expected to be tried by a German court. He noted that before Hitler there were laws and free opinion, but now there seemed to be neither.

Scouts Attend Camporce at Holmes D Baker Memorial Camp

A large group of Boy Scouts from the Francis Scott Key District attended the Fair Camporce at Holmes D. Baker Memorial Camp Braddock Heights last Friday and Saturday. The two day event started Friday evening with scouts preparing their own supper. Evening games preceded an instructional star study session led by J Douglas Weddle. A camp fire was conducted by the Camporee staff.

Scout Camporee Highlights In Myersville Sabillasville Roles

Saturday mornings featured games Scoutcraft and cooking by the new troops in Myersville under Guy C G Kline and in Sabillasville under George Bby. The Camporee ran under Field Executive Jack Shorrow with volunteer Scout leaders assisting.

James H. Grove Jr announces Frederick Kiwanis Club to send seven delegates to the October 3 5 Washington meeting. J Belmont Mogser will address the convention with officers to be elected and 1947 objectives set. seventy eight district clubs expected. Miners Open Meeting Without John Lewis

The United Mine Workers opened its 39th convention in Atlantic City without John L. Lewis. William Green of the AFL welcomed the union back after a ten year absence as Lewis led his 60,600 miners after returning to the AFL last winter.
