Cave-in in Columbus Trench Kills Officials and Workers
In Columbus Georgia a public works superintendent Robert L. Johnson and a Black laborer Brad Smith died when a deep trench caved in during street measurements. A second collapse trapped seven or eight workers as rescue efforts saved five. Johnson and Smith were recovered dead. Johnson, a prominent civil engineer, leaves a wife and four children.

Man and Wife Die by Bullet in Allentown Area Tragedy
William Foulke, 50, and his wife, 27, were found dead along the road from Allentown to Fullerton. A revolver with empty chambers, six loaded cartridges, carbolic acid, and a cup with acid were recovered nearby. Each had a bullet wound in the head. Authorities believe Foulke murdered his wife and then killed himself. The couple leaves two children. No motive is known for the double tragedy.

Merry Maners Killed Five Die In Sharon Hill Train Crash
A family reunion party of about a dozen was struck by the Lampkin accommodation on the third track near Sharon Hill station. Five died at the scene or en route, including David Farran and David Fallon Jr. three were seriously injured. The accident occurred as guests waited for a train, with mangled bodies removed to a physician’s office and later to a West Philadelphia hospital. Thomas Brown is reported most seriously hurt, others expected to recover.

Train Freight Kills Five in Chicago Street Car Crash
Five people died and about twenty were injured when a Wisconsin Central Limited passenger train collided with a crowded Forty-third Avenue street car on Fifty-second Avenue in Chicago. The street car, returning from Harlem race track, was struck at center track as the motorman attempted to cross. The train, moving at high speed, caused the car to split in two and scatter victims. the motorman blamed wet rails for the disaster.
