Walkersville subdivision approvals ease town growth pressures
Walkersville planners approved two subdivisions on Thursday night easing development pressures in the southern town area. A one lot 10 acre Hemp property parcel and a 12 acre split from the Hoke farm were authorized subject to later city county public works approvals. The Hoke portion remains agricultural with a 20 foot lane serving the old farm buildings. The Hemp 10 acres will go to a Hemp child. Lexington Village plans were noted as having drawn land from the McKeon project. A six to eight month timeline for master plan revisions was outlined. Also noted was a two lot parcel on Frederick Avenue proposed for a pizza carry out. In separate items two local residents were reported in critical condition after farm and church roof incidents. Edger R. Long and Paul Clark were treated and transported to MIEMSS and area hospitals.

Chrysler workers to receive stock in two year wage freeze plan
Chrysler Corp would gain 1.25 billion in government loan guarantees while employees contribute 1.32 billion via wage freeze or other means. For a two year freeze, workers would receive 250 million dollars in stock, about 40 percent control, per Senator Lugar. Senate Banking Committee approved 10-4 and sent the bill to the floor, contrasting Carter administration and House plans offering 1.5 billion in guarantees with no wage freeze.
