London dispatch reports officials expect the Irish conference to break down soon due to difficulties. An alternative settlement proposed to Sinn Fein includes Sinn Fein taking the oath of allegiance to the Crown, but Sinn Fein objects to the plan.
New York November 30. August Belmont and other Inter Borough Rapid Transit Company directors invited by the State to explain financial transactions of 1917 and 1918 refused to testify by invitation today. Subpoenas returnable tomorrow morning were issued for August Belmont Edward J. Berwind Cornelius Vanderbilt Daniel G. Reid B de C Sullivan Thomas Dewitt Cuyler and Morgan J O Brien
The morning stock market showed stability only in rails while Mexican and domestic oils declined further and many specialties fell one to three points. Prices neared noon as Liberty Bonds rose to new highs except for the three and one half. Call money opened at 5 percent.
Baltimore November 30 Rev Michael Curley was installed Archbishop of Baltimore at the Cathedral succeeding Cardinal Gibbons. The crowning event will occur in January. The church was crowded and an address was given by Bishop Corrigan and Robert Biggs spoke for the laity. Archbishop Curley expressed gratitude for the warm welcome.
Miss Louisa Dagenhardt, 50, was found dead in a rear shed on Spring Street. She had been dead for several days and was strangled with a towel. Investigators say she was kicked and beaten and there was evidence of an attempted criminal assault.
London officials confirm reports that the British Cabinet is considering a moratorium plan for Germany. The confirmation came today from official circles in London.
Circuit Court named former Governor Philips Lee Goldsborough Bernard Brennen John A Stillman and Walter F Peterson receivers for Glob Shipbuilding and Drydock Company after a creditors petition by N W James Lumber Company. Bond set at $50000. Receivers to complete repairs and operate the plant for pending vessels on the premises.
