Notre Dame Football and the Subway Alumni Legend
A reflective essay on Notre Dame’s football culture, the Subway Alumni, and Gerry Faust’s era. It traces fan fervor, Catholic identity, and the program’s resilience through wins, losses, and postwar loyalty at South Bend, ending with Faust’s dignified departure. The piece weighs sport as a national ethos and Faust’s leadership under scrutiny.
