Brosius Seeks Plant For Sewage Near Jug Bridge
The Frederick County Appeals Board reviewed six zoning appeals including Brosius Development Corporation's plan for a new aerobic sewage disposal plant to serve Pinecliff development south of U.S. Route 40 near Jug Bridge. The system would discharge effluent into the Monocacy River and cost about 10,000 dollars for installation. The board postponed a decision, with evidence about water supply certification and health department approvals to be resolved.

Mt Airy Junior Miss pageant entrants announced
Representing Mt Airy High School are Carol Ann Lach and Nancy Bohr, two seniors from local families. They will compete Saturday at 8 p.m. in the second annual Junior Miss Pageant at Westminster Elementary School, facing peers from Westminster High, Taneytown, Francis Scott Key, St Johns, North Carroll, and Sykesville High Schools for a 50 dollar prize and a 25 dollar savings bond. The winner advances to the state finals in Westminster January 19 and 20. Richard Phelps chairs the event with Mrs Carol Jennette Shook serving as mistress of ceremonies. judges will be drawn from outside Carroll County.
