Sadr may be no show at U N debate
The U N Security Council delayed its debate on the U S Iran crisis until Saturday night awaiting Iran acting Foreign Minister Abolhassan Bani Sadr from Tehran. An Iranian spokesman said he probably would not attend the council session. Ayatollah Khomeini summoned Bani Sadr and other Revolutionary Council members to consider strategy. The council opened with 16 minutes of remarks from Kurt Waldheim and Sergio Palacios de Vizzio before adjourning. Waldheim urged restraint and Iran to release the 49 hostages at the U S Embassy in Tehran. Iran’s U N Mission had said Bani Sadr would be in New York for the start.
