NAACP to File Suits Over Maryland School Segregation

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People announced plans to file suits in U S District Court in Baltimore to end public school segregation in Harford and St Marys counties. Attorney Robert B Watts said injunctions against the Harford County school board and superintendent would be filed for 21 Negro children, with a second suit for 30 children against St Marys County authorities within 10 days. The suits allege violation of the Fourteenth Amendment. A Harford County petition for immediate integration was rejected last July. Four Aberdeen subcommittees study the issue and will report soon. Also, Navy Air Force manuevers unit participats in Sagebrush in Louisiana.

Acquitted Of Being Accomplice In Murder

Fort Worth reports a district court jury acquitted Mrs. Mary Clark of being an accomplice to the murder of her wealthy oilman husband William P. Clark. The verdict came after long deliberations. Judge Willis McGregor presided as district attorney Howard Fender had urged a life sentence. The trial hinged on statements from ex convict Harry, the key witness for the prosecution.

Veteran Leading Moroccan Rebels

French authorities identified Mohammed el Kha' bouchi, a 40 year old Moroccan veteran of Dien Bien Phu, leading about 2000 rebels in northern Morocco against French posts in the Rif Mountains. He fought for France in Indochina, was captured by Vietminh, later freed.
